Full Diplomatic Relations

Fifteen years after an overnight evacuation left twenty-two local employees stranded at a mission gate, career diplomat Ivo Kelder returns to Dural as the man tasked with reopening what was abandoned: a gutted 1890s legation house, a bent flagpole, and a city that remembers him with unnerving clarity.

The war in Vashra is over, but its bureaucracy has only changed shape—accreditations, restitution claims, incident logs, and the quiet power of being kept standing in the right corridor. Over eleven tense weeks, Ivo is pulled between three women who each hold a different kind of authority over him: his own security officer who must report any relationship she’s implicated in, a returnee conservator measuring ruins with a child’s map in her head, and the protocol director who can sign his credentials—or end his presence with a single stamped refusal.

There’s no conspiracy to uncover and no clean absolution to earn—only recognition, refusal, and the slow, intimate reckoning of desire in the exact places duty says it shouldn’t live.

Meet the Cast

Dilara Serez — The Moisture Meter
An architectural conservator on an eleven-week grant, Dilara returns to the city she fled at nine—technically fluent in her profession and suddenly tongue-tied in everything else. She’s here to survey ruins and write thirteen condition reports, but her real gravity is Kavat Street—her family’s house, and the question of who lives there now. With Ivo, romance grows out of work and quiet presence: two people in dust and late light, learning what can be repaired—and what can only be lived with.

Reyhan Tarak — The Folder
Director of Protocol with Ivo’s accreditation in a grey folder, Reyhan holds power the way a survivor holds a tool: not gently, not symbolically, and never by accident. Fifteen years ago she was employee number six on the list at the gate; she remembers every sentence that mattered, and she can quote them back in his cadence with one word changed. Her relationship with Ivo is a hostile reunion where attraction is precise, documented, and completely inconvenient—driven by a demand for accounting, not apology.

Signe Rask — The Duty Phone
Regional Security Officer and the only person on the compound Ivo cannot outrank, Signe enforces rules that exist for good reasons—including the one that could force her to report herself. She lives behind relentless humor and running jokes, using comedy as a shield so effective most people never notice it’s armor. Her connection to Ivo ignites where it’s least convenient: in incident logs, filing windows, and the startling intimacy of someone finally taking her jokes seriously.
