Forty clubs, two divisions, one very unstable league
Play as The Manager and select from 40 teams across two divisions in the Zero League to champion across a 38 match-day season, from Chaos Theorem, The Observers, Void Kickers, Entropy FC and more. But be warned: each club contains their own deep, galactic mythology including ancient rivalries, cultic allegiances!
Alongside an 8-team Void Cup, each season follows a double round robin sequence of home and away matches, spaced 4 days apart on a real calendar that you choose to advance yourself. Pick your lineup, drill the squad, out-negotiate rival clubs, then watch the match ensue kick by kick. At the end of a season, 3 teams are promoted and 3 teams are relegated across the divisions, auguring astral mayhem to the Zero League with table, cup, career goals, position trend and all-time records carrying forward season after season.
An (un)real match engine, not a results screen
As The Manager in the Zero League, your chosen formations and tactics play out on a top-down 2D pitch with 22 players and a ball that obeys its own laws. The pitch models real physics like arrival steering, first-touch settling, momentum and turn damping, tackle attempts, Magnus curls and more!
Giving life to this otherworldly league, you continue to dictate the game while matches run including making substitutions, changing tactics, and pausing, speeding through or skipping to the end of a game. The Manager’s attention to detail and decision making becomes critical as rival cults rewrite the laws of the game, chaos weather incinerates your left back, and the void keeps a running tab on your club.
Trading, scouting: Someone is watching your every move
The market opens twice a season, however, a transfer entails two negotiations, not the click of a button. From scouting players and tabling a fee to writing release clauses, every process must be directly acted upon by The Manager, offering a sliver of control within a cosmic pandemonium. Nevertheless, the market also moves without you offering blind-bid auctions, free agents and loans, and unsolicited offers for your best player.
Beyond a football sim with a spooky name, the Zero League runs on unknowable laws of chaos that are controlled somewhere from the beyond. As factors like void influence, entropy, and sanity climb and decay, your players may become victims of curses and sacrifices, transcend the league and disappear forever, or corrupt your news and scouting reports. All are determined by someone upstairs keeping score on how you handle post-match press conferences, renovate your home stadium, and meet board expectations.
The weather is a participant
Nothing in the Zero League is decorative - fixtures are affected by galactic weather events and some non-weather events, such as: Black Hole, Dimensional Rift, Void Storm, Reality Tear, Meteor Shower, Eldritch Fog, and Cursed Rain. Each condition contains its own chaos rate, and chaos events fire mid-match.
Rival cults keep changing the laws of football
Upstairs runs a permanent political fight over the rules of Zero League, and their vote swings every matchday. The Manager does not get a vote. The Manager gets to read the pending measures, watch the bars move, and be ready for what passes. Season-level measures sit alongside them — doubling chaos rates for three matchdays, granting a matchday of amnesty from chaos entirely, or striking cosmic-tier weather from the rest of the schedule.
