Welcome to Beta Earth

A strange world, a fresh start, and a story waiting for you. Create your character, get to know your surroundings, and choose your next move in a text-driven science-fiction RPG. Take your time getting settled, use on-screen actions or type commands, and let your imagination fill the skyline. Once a fight begins, the world keeps moving.

Two journeys. One world.

Sovereignty invites you into Sprawl 15: meet its people, explore unfamiliar streets, take on quests, and prepare for tactical fights. Your choices and progress stay with your character.

Second Chances is a harsher survival journey. Food, weather and danger shape your way forward. Learn from each attempt, discover useful abilities, and choose Standard or Fear and Hunger Track 1 to suit the challenge you want.

Find your footing

  • Choose a class. Watch one short, optional scene for its strengths and survival tips—or start without training.
  • Keep your health, objectives and nearby threats in view.
  • Click an enemy to focus your attacks, read what it is preparing, and keep a useful response close at hand.
  • Keep separate characters and saves for each mode.
  • Enjoy optional music and effects, with adjustable reading text.
  • Play solo offline, without a separate game account.

Stay a little longer

The Beta Earth Digital Library is included: Between Worlds, Legacy and Paradise, with interactive readers, EPUBs and PDFs. Open it from the mode menu and explore more of the people, places and stories behind the game.

Company, if you want it

Experimental private co-op supports up to four players. Keep your own adventure and choose to work together on shared objectives for cooperation bonuses. Sharing is never required to finish. Manual host/join instructions are included. Connections across computers and routers are not yet tested and may fail; there is no matchmaking or hosted relay.

Before you begin

Both modes are still in development. This update brings clearer enemy intentions, more class-shaped choices and a steadier sense of progress. Sovereignty keeps the focus on adventure, with no new inventory chores. In Second Chances, choose useful help every three earned run levels, trade supplies for food or class aid at cleared rest stops, and carry your earned memories into a fresh attempt. Back up your saves before updating; older builds cannot use the new save format. A local support-export tool is included if you need help. Automatic crash reports may be unavailable.

Current experimental build — 0.90.0-journeys.2

Optional events and dialogue now respond to your choices and actions in both journeys. Open Events beside the journal to respond or leave; your choices and later aftermaths stay saved.

Second Chances has slower combat recovery and enemy preparation. Sol offers strong help through level 5, then gradually grows quieter through level 10. NEXT gives clearer targeting guidance, and required Gate enemies no longer leave unfinished encounters.

Both journeys and the Digital Library are included. Later Second Chances progression and full accessibility testing are still underway.
