Farthest started with a real-world challenge: the UK's Jailbreak race. Contestants set off with nothing in their pockets and a fixed amount of time to get as far from the start as possible. No money, no plan. Just distance and whatever happens on the way.
We turned that idea into a maze. You start in the middle of an endless, procedurally generated labyrinth with empty pockets. The maze builds itself as you explore, so every corridor is a small decision: keep going, turn back, or take a chance on the unknown. Your score is simply how far from the start you get.
An endless maze. The labyrinth generates as you explore, and it never runs out. Every run is a new seed, or type one in to replay a maze you liked.
Distance is everything. Your score is how far from the start you've made it, not how long you've wandered.
Chart your route. A minimap and the trail you leave behind keep track of where you've been, so you can see which way leads farther.
Endless. No timer and no pressure. Explore at your own pace, and pick up where you left off whenever you come back.
Timed: 5, 10, or 20 minutes. Race the clock to get as far as you can. When time runs out, the Void awakens and floods the corridors from where you started. Keep moving, because the run ends the moment it catches you.
You start with empty pockets, so everything you use, you find along the way.
Chests of different rarities. Common ones make you pick one of three rewards and leave the other two behind forever.
Energy crystals in four colors open matching portals that fling you far across the maze.
Bombs blast through walls that are in your way.
Teleport stones jump you ahead, and you can aim before you commit.
Rewind stones step you back along your own path when a corridor turns out to be a dead end.
Waypoints mark a spot so you can warp back to it later.
Magnets pull in every nearby crystal at once.
Regions shift as you travel: misty passages, flooded halls, cobbled stone, and pockets of warm or cool light.
Landmark rooms break up the corridors with open halls and pillared chambers.
Three fog-of-war settings. See the whole maze around you, reveal each section as you enter it, or see only the cells you've actually walked.
Steam Leaderboards: one for Endless, plus one for each timed length, so a 5-minute sprint is never ranked against a marathon.
Steam Achievements for distance, exploration, and more.
Cosmetic caches unlock new player shapes.
Steam Cloud keeps your runs in sync across PCs.
Full controller support, plus keyboard and mouse, with rebindable controls.
Colorblind-friendly: crystals and their portals carry die-style pip markers, so you can match them without telling colors apart.
Reduce Flashing and Screen Shake options for players sensitive to flashing or motion.
Separate music and sound effect volume.
How far will you get?
